When it comes to durable children's eyewear, finding the perfect fit is essential for both comfort and effectiveness of the glasses. Did you receive your frames, but find them to be a little bit too tight or loose behind the ear? We always recommend visiting your local optician for adjustments, but we understand that this isn't always possible. That's why we've put together some tips and tricks to help you make your kids' glasses built to last fit perfectly.
First, let's take a look at the anatomy of our MEsquad glasses. We have the frame front, which holds the lenses in place, the lenses, the arms or temples that go over the ears, the hinge that allows you to connect the front to the arms, the natural bend of the arm, and the arm tip.
For a slight adjustment behind the ear, you will need a bowl of hot water (tap water hot) and a small towel. Place one temple in the hot water for approximately 30-60 seconds. Lightly touch the temple to make sure it’s not too hot. With your thumb under the natural bend of arm or temple, and your index finger, begin to slowly manipulate the temple by curving it down or up, in or out, depending on whether you want a snug or looser fit. Repeat this step on the other side. Put it on your child’s face and ask them to give you a little shake. If you feel it needs a further adjustment, repeat the process until the glasses feel comfortable. You can also purchase our silicone ear hooks which keep the frame in place. You can find them here.
But what if your heavy-duty children's glasses get run over by a car and don’t sit straight on a table?
No problem at all. The hinge can be manipulated back into shape as it is made of a memory silicone. To get started, lay your frame on a flat surface. Both temple tips should touch the surface of the table. If one is raised, holding the frame front firm with one hand, use your index finger with the other hand to reshape the hinge by pushing it in and down.
Then lay your frame back on a flat surface to see if the process needs to be repeated.
It is important to note that regular eye exams are crucial in maintaining the health of your child's eyes. Starting at a young age, it is recommended that children have their eyes examined annually. This is because certain vision problems such as myopia, or nearsightedness, are on the rise in children. Myopia is a condition in which close objects appear clearly, but distant objects appear blurry. This condition is becoming more prevalent in children due to increased use of technology and decreased time spent outdoors.
Regular eye exams can detect vision problems early on, allowing for proper treatment and management. It is also important to take preventative measures such as limiting screen time and encouraging outdoor activities to reduce the risk of myopia.
In summary, we hope that these tips and tricks have helped you to achieve a perfect fit for your indestructible kids' eyewear. A good fit is important for both comfort and the overall effectiveness of your tough and reliable children's glasses. Remember the importance of regular eye exams, especially in young children to maintain the health of their eyes. And if you ever have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to your local optician for assistance.
